A Caroline County Story That Changed the Country and Still Inspires Us Today
At RPM Regions, we love shining a light on the communities we serve and as a family who lives right here in Caroline County, today’s spotlight hits close to home. There’s something truly special about this county’s history, and no story represents that better than the legacy of Richard and Mildred Loving.
The Lovings weren’t trying to become icons. They were just two people in love, building a life together in their hometown. But the world had other plans.
Because of outdated, unjust laws, their marriage was criminalized. They were forced to leave Virginia or face jail time for doing something as simple and human as loving one another.
But instead of staying silent, they took a stand. With help from the ACLU, they fought all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court and won. Loving v. Virginia (1967) didn’t just change their lives. It changed the law of the land.
Their love wasn’t loud, but it was steady. And it built a legacy stronger than most could ever imagine.
At Real Property Management Regions, we talk about legacy a lot. But let’s be clear, legacy doesn’t always start with wealth.
Sometimes, it starts with love.
Sometimes, it starts with a family who says, “We belong here.”
As an interracial couple living, raising a family, and building a business in Caroline County, Phyllis and I are deeply aware that we’re able to do what we do because of the courage of the Lovings. Their quiet strength paved the way for ours.
That kind of strength is what inspires us. Because building a legacy isn’t just about owning property, it’s about planting roots, making space, and creating a future that reflects who you are and what you stand for.
We’re proud to serve the same Caroline County the Lovings called home. And we’re committed to helping families of every background, race, and story, feel like they belong.
The RPM Way
We’re not just here to manage properties. We’re here to help families build something that lasts, with love, courage, and smart strategy.
As a veteran-owned, family-operated company, we believe legacy is more than wealth, it’s how you lead and love. Learn more about our values.
Because of their courage, families like ours get to live, love, and build in the same county they once had to leave.
Their story reminds us that legacy doesn’t start with wealth, it starts with love.

Grateful to live, love, and lead together in the same county the Lovings once had to leave. Their courage is part of our legacy.
Inspired by the Lovings, we believe home should always be a place of freedom, peace, and legacy. If you’re ready to start yours, we’re here.
