Where We Are
Warsaw is an incorporated town in Richmond County and proudly serves as the county seat. Nestled in the Virginia Northern Neck, it spans about 3 square miles and had an official 2020 Census population of 1,637, with recent estimates putting it closer to 2,300+ residents. That steady growth is a clear signal: Warsaw is a town on the move.
Deep Roots, Rich Stories
The community around the courthouse was once known as Richmond Court House. In 1832, residents renamed it Warsaw in honor of the Polish fight for independence. The Richmond County Courthouse, built between 1748–1750, still stands as a centerpiece of town life. From its Native American beginnings through colonial settlement and post–Civil War rebuilding, Warsaw has always carried a strong sense of resilience.
Education & Community Anchors
Warsaw is home to the Warsaw Campus of Rappahannock Community College, serving as a hub for education and workforce training across the region. The Northern Neck Regional Jail, opened in 1995 and later expanded, anchors civic services and provides meaningful employment opportunities. These institutions make Warsaw not only the county seat but also a center of learning and leadership.
